This is further increased by the fact that the only triads that are able to be built from the whole tone scale are augmented triads. ![]() ![]() The whole tone scale has no leading tone and, due to its symmetrical nature, gives little feeling of tonality or a tonal center. The whole tone scale is a hexatonic scale in which each note is spaced equally by the interval of a whole step (or major second.) The scale exists in only two transpositions: (C, D, E, F♯, G♯, A♯, C) and (B, Db, Eb, F, G, A, B.) It may begin initially on any note. ![]()
